Welcome!

stepping stones

JST INSTITUTE, home of Journal of Systemic Therapies, is a threshold to training and education in Brief Narrative Therapy that is located within social justice principles and practices. Grounded in practice-based evidence, our approach privileges people’s local knowledge with an emphasis on abilities rather than deficits, possibilities rather than limitations and what is strong rather than what is wrong in people.

The Institute strives to support practitioners through accessible, enriched training and education, consultation and community initiatives. The practices of Brief Narrative Therapy are particularly applicable when increasing access to mental health services through walk-in-clinics, single session therapy, brief services or, longer term environments. These practices are also beneficial when facilitating organizational change and innovation, working with communities experiencing hardship or providing services that aims to collaborate with people to get the help they need when they need it. Our training and education includes workshops, courses, conferences and publications. You can attend training at our venue or through online sessions. We can also take our training and consultation to your organization, tailored to meet your hopes and needs.

The Journal of Systemic Therapies has been publishing and disseminating collaborative, client-centered ideas and practices of academic scholars and practitioners worldwide since 1981.
